Can Yoga & Meditation manage Gastritis?

Yoga and meditation can help manage gastritis by reducing stress, which is a major factor in the development of gastritis. Other ways to manage gastritis include:

  • Lifestyle changes: Avoid long-term use of alcohol, NSAIDs, coffee, and drugs.
  • Diet: Eat smaller, more frequent meals and avoid foods that trigger symptoms.
  • Smoking cessation: Smoking can worsen gastritis symptoms.

Other stress management techniques that can help with gastritis include: tai chi, massage, and breathing exercises.

Yoga is generally safe when performed under the guidance of a qualified practitioner. However, as with all forms of physical activity, it has an inherent injury risk. People over age 65 should be particularly cautious when practicing yoga.
